Travel & Logistics: Getting to Ballybeg 🌏

We are thrilled that so many of you are making the journey to Ireland! We know travel logistics can be complex, especially internationally, so this page contains all the essential details to make your trip smooth and stress-free.

Flying In: Dublin Airport (DUB)

The most convenient airport for all international travellers is Dublin Airport (DUB).

Distance to Ballybeg: Ballybeg House is approximately 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes) south of DUB, depending on traffic.

Airlines: DUB is a major hub served by most international airlines, including frequent services from Germany (e.g., Lufthansa, Aer Lingus) and of course Ryanair has the best prices but you get what you pay for!

Getting to Ballybeg

Ballybeg House is nestled in a scenic, rural area, meaning public transport is limited. You will be traveling to the general area near the towns of Gorey and Arklow. We recommend the following options for transfers:

Public Transport: The Expressway Bus toward Wexford (Recommended!) Route 2

We understand that coordinating transfers from the airport can be tricky due to varying arrival times. Since we cannot organise a single bus for everyone, we highly recommend taking the Expressway Bus from Dublin Airport (DUB) to Gorey. You can find more details at this link:

https://www.expressway.ie/route/2/dublin-airport-to-wexford

Bus Details: The Expressway (Bus Route 2) departs from the airport every hour on the hour and goes directly to Gorey. This is a reliable and comfortable option.

Gorey Pickup: Gorey is a really lovely, vibrant town! If you choose this option, please let us know your arrival time, and we will happily arrange to collect you from Gorey and bring you directly to Ballybeg House or your local accommodation.

Coordinated Private Taxi / Shared Shuttle

Because we do not know exactly when everyone will arrive over the course of Friday, we strongly recommend coordinating with other guests who are flying in around the same time.

A shared private taxi or pre-booked shuttle is an easy and affordable option when split between two or more people.

Car Rental —Recommended for Explorers!

If you plan on extending your trip to explore the wonderful country of Ireland—which we absolutely encourage!—renting a car at Dublin Airport is the best option for freedom and flexibility.

We strongly encourage this option if you plan to travel before or after the wedding weekend to see some of the spectacular scenery the country has to offer, such as the Wild Atlantic Way or the Ring of Kerry.

Practical Rental Advice:

Book Early: August is peak season. Rental cars sell out quickly, and prices rise closer to the date. Book your car as soon as you book your flights.

Driving Side: In Ireland, we drive on the left side of the road, and the steering wheel is on the right. Please be mentally prepared for this change!

Insurance: Carefully check your insurance policy and consider taking out full coverage. Irish roads can be narrow, and insurance requirements often differ from continental European or North American standards.

Sat Nav (GPS): We recommend adding a GPS system or using a reliable map app like Google Maps on your phone. Directions to Ballybeg House can sometimes be tricky without navigation.
